Instructor Courses
Dinghy Assistant Instructor: A one-day course covering the skills you need to assist a qualified Instructor in delivering training. You'll get a solid foundation in how the National Training Programs are structured, communication skills, and an introduction to risk management. Assistant Instructors always work under the guidance of an Instructor. Minimum age 12.
Dinghy Instructor: A two-day course teaching effective theory and practical instructing technique, with continuous feedback and support throughout. Qualifies you to deliver Australian Sailing programs at accredited Discover Sailing Centres nationwide. Minimum age 16.
Both courses run at The Boatshed on Albert Park Lake and lead to nationally recognised Australian Sailing accreditation.
Powerboat courses
Powerboat Handling: This course is designed to improve boat handling skills, especially in confined areas such as Marinas and in swell and waves and develop knowledge about engines, types of craft, and practice navigation techniques. It is also a prerequisite for the Australian Sailing Dinghy Instructor qualification.
Safety Boat Operator: This course provides the skills needed to support water based activities at clubs, schools and outdoor recreation centres. It focuses on race course design and on-water rescue methods of dinghies and multi-hulls. It is also a prerequisite for the Australian Sailing Coach qualification.
