The first great Tackers Story

About a Balnarring Family that participated in the 1st Tackers Pilot Program at Westernport Yacht Club, Balnarring Victoria.

Two brothers under 12 were given, as part of their Christmas present, a 12 hour Introductory Sailing course. Both boys and mum were very excited by the prospect of being part of the new and exciting Tackers program at Western Port Yacht Club. Dad, although a sailor in the past, wasn’t all that keen on the program and his anticipated involvement.

The program was held with great success with the boys doing very well in the initial sessions and the subsequent follow up mornings. They were full of enthusiasm in all aspects of their new sport along with the lifestyle of the club.  Mum and Dad involved themselves as was the expectation of Tackers and could see their sons were having a great time. The family were in rental accommodation over the summer holidays and were not looking forward to returning to Melbourne to school, jobs etc. One very happy sailing family!

Time passed, and by Easter the following was the status of the family:

Both a new Regatta Opti for the boys and a Hobie 18 for Dad had been purchased. Not to miss out, a holiday home in Balnarring was purchased for Mum. Dad certainly came a long way from December. Tackers have a great deal to answer for.
